Circuit Makers 101 and Robot Commanders 101Located at the Armando Center* Grades 1-3Circuit Makers 101Let’s get creative with electricity! In this junior hands-on electronics class, students will gain experience with creating their own electronics; designing custom light-up greeting cards, electric games, mazes, and even musical instruments. Each class dayconsists of a circuitry lesson and a hands-on electronics project, using components like lights, buzzers, switches, motors, and sensors. Circuit Lab staff will make sure participants create a project that they can be proud of each day. Most class days include atake-home projectDate: July 27th - July 31stTime: 9:00AM-12:00PM-----------------Robot Commanders 101Understanding how software can interact with robots is a key skill for the STEM jobs of tomorrow. In this class we provide several active, playful activities, where students learn about what it means to write, debug, and execute computer programs that communicate with different robotic devices. Using the power of code, students will turn Sphero SPRK+ robots into Magic 8 Balls, automated Red Light / Green Light games, and the arcade classic Pong – and Unruly Splats will become our voting machines, relay races, guessing games, and more.Date: July 27th - July 31stTime: 1:00PM - 4:00PM--------------Circuit Makers 101 and Robot Commanders 101: Full DayDate: July 27th - July 31stTime: 9:00AM - 4:00PM--------------Hands On Electronics and App InventorsLocated at the Armando Center Grades 4-7Hands On Electronics:In a world powered by smart technology and AI, the most innovative engineers understand how software and hardware work together. This course gived young makers that critical edge. We start by exploring the magic of electorincs with simple curcuits, then begin making customized programmable devices with Arduino. We will gain practice working with LED's, speakers, a variety of sensors, and several kid friendly programming interfaces. Or, do you already have the next great app idea, and just need to know how to make it? In this no experience required course, we use MIT App Inventor Software to make fun, creative apps for android phones and tablets. We will also explore wireless communication by building custom Bluetooth hardware controllers and readouts for our apps. 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM    Kids Test Kitchen - Kids Test Kitchen Summer
Kids' Test Kitchen (KTK) is an enrichment program for kids  that teaches nutrition and cooking through hands-on, team-based preparation of whole, seasonal foods. Led by experts, children slice, dice, and cook healthy recipes to foster confidence, with pressure-free tasting opportunities to encourage trying new things.Mondays 4/6 - 5/18: 5:30-6:30 (No Class April 20th)Fridays 4/10 - 5/22: 4:30-5:30 (No Class May 15th)Summer: 8/3 - 8/7: 10:00am-1:00pm (Armando Center Room 200)All registered participants must complete the Student Safety and Success Form found here: https://kidstestkitchen.com/safetysuccess/ Please read through the page and click on the red "REQUIRED: Tell us about your student here"Now a word from KTK!Cooking is a life skill, and so is eating! On a mission to redefine kid food; Kids’ Test Kitchen’s enthusiastic Facilitators get eaters of all ages and abilities, cooking, tasting, and thinking about healthy ingredients! Students engage with food in a way that is both educational and fun. Through hands-on experience, kids are taught the value of fresh, healthy ingredients and gain appreciation for the process of transforming those ingredients into a finished product. Each class closes with an opportunity to taste the result of their hard work. Even the most reluctant eaters enjoy Kids’ Test Kitchen, where participation is encouraged, and the choice to taste is always one’s own. Students receive a printed recipe card and the focal ingredient - or a sample of the finished dish - so they can show off what they learned at home! Parents report their kids come home from Kids’ Test Kitchen EXCITED about fresh ingredients and new flavors! Reluctant eaters learn that food is safe and fun! And everyone practices essential life skills like teamwork, time management, and patience, along with the obvious skills like slicing, measuring, and cooking!JOIN US AGAIN! Each series of classes offers fresh, new, recipes to prepare and explore!Kids have food allergies, but they shouldn’t miss out on the fun. We know allergies and can work around them, making sure that everyone is having fun and staying safe.*Families who have students with allergies or other necessary dietary modifications are required to complete the form linked here: https://kidstestkitchen.com/safetysuccess/ Summer: 8/3 - 8/7: 10:00am-1:00pm (Armando Center Room 200)In this multi-hour vacation session, your eaters, working together, will prepare entrées, fun snacks, and side items whose key ingredients are known to be really good for us! During this intensive, we’ll focus a bit more on learning practical cooking skills, while finding fun ways to enjoy the produce of the season! We will use every second of our time together! Along with cooking and tasting, which will be the emphasis, we’ll also take short breaks to move and flex our brain muscles – digging a bit deeper into the world of nutrition with fun activities. Even the most reluctant eaters enjoy KTK, where participation is expected, but tasting is always optional.
