9:00 AM - 12:00 PM    Snapology Summer Camp - Mining & Building
MINING AND BUILDING BASICHey gamers, are you ready to travel all the way to The End with Snapology? Join us as we bring the game of Minecraft® out of the computer and into the real-world using LEGO® bricks. In this program, you will go on adventures using your imagination and even design your own worlds with animals, buildings, and your very own LEGO® Minecraft® character.WHAT THE STUDENTS WILL LEARNBuilding a Stable StructureBuilding a sturdy, reliable structure is a fundamental aspect of engineering. In this program, students will explore different methods for creating a model that is both strong and functional. As they face building challenges when testing their designs, they will be positively encouraged to think critically and use teamwork to solve engineering problems.Presentation SkillsMany school-age students struggle with their classroom presentation skills. Snapology will help your child feel more comfortable presenting in front of a class by having a child explain each of their builds to their peers in the class. Presenting something that they created – using something that they have interest in – will help their confidence in front of the class and will translate into their everyday confidence.Critical Thinking SkillsStudents will be presented with a variety of design and navigation challenges that will require them to utilize their critical-thinking and problem-solving skills throughout the entire program. Our goal is to provide ongoing, obtainable challenges to each student group to make sure they are always developing their critical-thinking and 21st Century skills (communication, collaboration, critical thinking, creativity).Communication and Collaboration SkillsSmall groups and peer partners are key components of Snapology’s educational approach. We emphasize positive teamwork skills in our programs and constantly work to develop healthy, respectful collaborations between students. Through group planning, team projects, and fun partner experiences, your student will become more cognizant of how to interact with their peers in a respectful and productive way.Date: August 4th - August 8thTime: 9:00AM-12:00PMGrades: 1-5Location: Armando Center
